About this treatment
Male factors contribute to nearly half of all infertility, so a thorough male evaluation is part of every couple's workup. Causes range from abnormal or low sperm production — due to infection, injury, hormonal disorders, varicocele or lifestyle — to blockages, and disorders of the genitalia or genes. A significant share is idiopathic, reflecting how much about testicular function is still being understood.
Treatment is matched to the cause. Conservative options include medication to improve sperm production, hormone correction, and lifestyle changes (avoiding heat, alcohol, tobacco and certain exposures). Because sperm regenerate roughly every three months, positive changes can show measurable benefit within a season.
Where sperm are absent from the ejaculate, surgical sperm retrieval — PESA (from the epididymis) and TESA (from the testicle) — can recover sperm for use with ICSI. We also offer reproductive surgery such as varicocele repair and removal of blockages.

Male Infertility — your questions
Common questions about this treatment. Anything else? Our team is happy to talk it through.
Yes — stopping smoking, reducing alcohol, losing excess weight and avoiding heat exposure can meaningfully improve sperm quality, often within about three months as sperm regenerate.
Often, yes. In many cases of azoospermia, sperm can be recovered directly from the testicle or epididymis (TESA/PESA) and used with ICSI.
Absolutely — male factors are involved in about half of cases. A simple semen analysis early on avoids unnecessary investigations and points to the right treatment sooner.
